The Training Camp for the National Hockey League referees and linesmen will be staged again this year in The Blue Mountains.
Using the Beaver Valley Community Centre as their headquarters, the refs and linesmen will deal with rules and applications, fitness and other issues pertaining to the profession.
Gregson, who is a resident in the region, says The Blue Mountains provides a tremendous environment for the officials.
He says the small town atmosphere allows the officials the opportunity to prepare for the season and also gives them a terrific bonding experience as they are together for the bulk of the week.
Gregson is high in his praise for the municipality, in particular, Director of Recreation Shawn Everitt, who works exceptionally hard to ensure the needs of the officials are met.
There will be more than 70 contracted NHL officials, more than 30 referees at the camp, along with a half dozen " prospects ".
Gregson says officials at every level should work hard, be proud of their work and maintain their self confidence that they will be rewarded if they're looking for a professional career.
