Construction of the new highway 26 between Wasaga Beach and Collingwood is on schedule.
Ministry of Transportation Communications Coordinator, Astrid Poei says the contractor has told her work is progressing well and will continue, weather permitting, through out the winter so the by-pass can be completed by late 2012.
Poei tells us since September of 2010 work has been ongoing and excavation and grading as well as bridge and culvert work is what's happening now.
She tells us the new four lane divided highway will include three new roundabouts on Mosley Street, local Airport Road and Poplar Sideroad, running adjacent to the current highway.
There will also be a noise barrier and two structures along the new road to allow deer and other wildlife to cross the busy new highway.
