The Huron Perth Catholic District School Board is doing their part to help out the town of Goderich.
Director of Education Martha Dutrizac says staff brought in bags and bags of supplies that St. Vincent de Paul had identified as important items.
They also put the call out to the community of Stratford and they filled a large cube truck to the brim with donated items to go to Goderich.
Dutrizac says they also raised a substantial donation to St. Vincent de Paul and to their own St. Andre Bessette trust fund that helps students in need.
She says the idea of fully stocked backpacks came from a colleague in Bruce-Grey who was working with the United Way there.
Dutrizac says the 500 backpacks will go a long way towards helping the students in Goderich and Benmiller get a fresh start for the school year.
