Backpacks Being Handed Out

Goderich | by Dianne Colgan

United Way gives out backpacks in Goderich to tornado victims.

School-age kids in Goderich are getting a helping hand today.

The United Way of Bruce-Grey has donated 500 fully stocked backpacks for any kids affected by the tornado.

Executive Director of the Perth-Huron United Way Ryan Erb says it's wonderful that the children going back to school have been thought of.

He says the support that people have shown from all over the world is touching and they're grateful for every last dollar and donation.

The Bruce-Grey United Way says this is just one less thing for parents to think about during the rebuilding period.

Both branches of the United Way will be at St. Mary's School in Goderich from 10 AM until 3 PM.

Parents will have to provide a drivers license with A Goderich address or other ID with proof of residency to receive a backpack.
