Kelso Beach Closed Again

Owen Sound | by Kevin Bernard

One day after giving all clear, the health unit closes the Owen Sound beach.

Just one day after it was re-opened for swimming -- Kelso Beach in Owen Sound has been posted again as unsafe for swimming.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit says due to the heavy rains Thursday, a sewage by-pass occurred from the Owen Sound waste water system.

As a result both Kelso and Bayshore Beaches have been posted unsafe for swimming.

Environmental samples will be taken early next week.

The posting will remain up thru the Holiday weekend, and will be lifted once samples show that results are within acceptable levels.

Kelso Beach is not part of the routine sample regime.

However, due to historic evidence, it has been posted as well as the Bayshore Beach.

Beach information is posted on the health unit website and is updated as conditions change.
