Trauma Info for Tornado Victims

Goderich | by Rick Stow

The East Street Station in Goderich is hosting an expert in emotional trauma.

Everyone who lives in Goderich has been affected in one way or another by the F3 tornado which struck the community on the afternoon of Sunday August 21st.

Dealing with trauma can be very disquieting.

Katrina Bos -- the owner-operator of East Street Station -- will provide space for acclaimed trauma expert Eugene Dufors to hold a presentation on trauma this afternoon at 1 PM.

Dufors spent a month in New York City providing counselling following the 9-11 disaster in September of 2001.

His visit to Goderich has been arranged by a committee of psychologists, social workers, hospital admin staff and Victims' Services.

East Street Station has not been physically damaged by the twister, and can accommodate 60 to 100 persons inside.

Should there be an overflow crowd, plans are to hold the session outdoors with microphone and speakers.

An assessment of community needs will be part of the presentation process, with further sessions possible for evenings depending on demand.
