Luis Perez won his first major league start in style as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Oakland Athletics 1-nothing on Sunday. Perez gave up just one hit six innings to earn the win while Jose Bautista smacked his 36th home run of the season, the most right now in the majors.

The Brantford Red Sox are off to the I-B-L finals. The Red Sox beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 9-3 yesterday in Toronto, winning their best-of-seven Intercounty Baseball League semi-final series 4-3. The Red Sox will continue their drive for a 4th straight championship title when they meet the Ottawa Fat Cats in the championship series, which opens this weekend.
