Beach One Fire 'Not Suspicious'

Wasaga Beach | by Mariane McLeod

500 thousand dollars in damage done to building, contents after Sunday fire.

Investigators from the Fire Marshall's Office have completed their work at the site of Sunday night's fire at Beach Area 1.

But they're not saying yet what caused the blaze.

Wasaga Beach Fire Chief Mike McWilliam says the investigators took evidence from the scene, and plenty of notes, but agree the cause of the fire is not suspicious.

The site has been handed back to the owners.

McWilliam says damage from the fire is estimated at about half a million dollars, including the contents of the destroyed building.

The Fire Chief also says the building will be demolished by the end of next weekend.

He says the charred remains of the building can be smelled as far away as the Stonebridge development.
