The Salmon lead remains at 18.4 pounds held by Luke Mason of Port Elgin

The winning angler with the heaviest salmon at the end of the derby gets $ 14,000

Todd Bender from St Clements leads the Trout Division at 20.5 pounds

Port Elgin Blue Devils 7 Tara Merchants 0

Greg Thede was 3 for 3 at the plate with 2 home runs for the Blue Devils

Thede drove in 4 runs in the victory

Daryl MacKinnon added a 2 run homer for Port Elgin while Matt Hamilton tossed a 3 hit shutout

The Blue Devils will compete at the Canadian Men's Fastball Championship Tournament at Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound which runs August 28th to September 4th

In the Future Stars Final for 2 year old colts & geldings, Mario Baillargeon won with " Instant Thrill " but a judges inquiry shuffled him back to 4th, leaving " P C Shockwave " for Curtis Clemens to claim half of the $ 21,000 purse

In the Future Stars Final for 2 year old fillies, " Windmachine " for Mario Baillargeon scored the victory and claimed half of the $ 21,400 purse.

Ireland Era Begins

The Ontario Hockey League Champion Owen Sound Attack introduced Greg Ireland as their new head coach yesterday.

Ireland replaces Mark Reeds who guided the Attack to the OHL Championship and then was chosen as an assistant coach with the Ottawa Senators of the NHL.
