Crushers Hire Selkirk

The Shallow Lake Crushers are forging into the upcoming WOAA Senior A Hockey season with a new face at the helm with the signing of local resident DJ Selkirk as their new head coach.

Selkirk who played Junior Hockey with both the Owen Sound Greys and the Walkerton Hawks also laced up with Cambrian College in Sudbury when they won the National Championship in 1997.

DJ has spent the last 12 years coaching minor hockey up to the Major Midget Level in Owen Sound and was an assistant with the 2007 Junior C Champion Walkerton Hawks.

He also brings a knowledge of the Senior Hockey League having spent 7 years as a player with the former Wiarton Redmen and the 2004 Senior A Champion Georgian Bay River Rats.

" I look forward to the challenge of taking the Crushers to the next level, and all positions are open, " commented Selkirk.

" With a good core of returning players and some new faces I think we can be very competitive in this league."

The Crushers will open their training camp at the Bayshore Community Center in Owen Sound on September 8th.
