After having Monday off, the Toronto Blue Jays are in Tampa Bay to take on the Rays tonight. Ricky Romero will be taking the mound for the Jays against David Price. It's an important 3-game series for Toronto. The Jays are just a game and a half behind the third-place Rays in the A-L East.

Meanwhile, the Yankees beat the Chicago White Sox 3-2. C-C Sabathia earned his major league-best 16th win. The Yankees have won 4 in a row and are just 1 game back of the Boston Red Sox in the A-L East. Boston lost to Cleveland yesterday 9-6.

The Ottawa Fat Cats join the Barrie Baycats in the second round of the I-B-L playoffs, as Barrie swept Hamilton in their first round series. Ottawa took the best-of-seven series four games to one with a 1-nothing victory over London yesterday. Tonight, Toronto visits Burlington while Kitchener is in Brantford.

The San Jose Sharks have signed all-star defenceman Brent Burns to a 5-year contract extension. The Sharks acquired Burns, a native of Barrie, from the Minnesota Wild during the NHL Draft in June.

The Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League have offered their Head Coaching position to Greg Ireland. Ireland, who is 46, recently had stints as a Head Coach in the A-H-L at San Antonio & Grand Rapids, was offered the position over the weekend. Currently, it's believed Ireland is considering the Attack offer, and it's also believed he will accept the position in short order.
