Dash for Cash

Tonight is the first of 2 midweek auto racing cards at Sauble Speedway.

The Dash for Cash Invitational at Sauble Speedway begins tonight at 7 pm with cash prizes for the top drivers.

The second midweek card is coming up August 10th and features NASCAR Legend Kenny Wallace.

OLA Senior Lacrosse Semifinal

St Catharines Saints at Norwood Champs

The best of 5 series is tied 1-1

The other semifinal between the Brooklin Merchants and the Quantum Properties Woodsmen resumes Friday night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre.

That series is also tied a 1 win apiece.

Game time Friday is 8:30 pm

Bluewater Fastball League

The Bluewater Fastball League game scheduled for tonight at Lakeview Park in Port Elgin between the Blue Devils & the Wiarton Nationals has been postponed.

The game will be made up at a later date.

The Nationals are scheduled to host the Owen Sound Selects tomorrow night at Bluewater Park in Wiarton.

The Blue Devils will compete this weekend at the O.A.S.A. Senior Championships at Fischer Park in New Dundee

Port Elgin will also compete at the Canadian Men's Fastball Championship at Duncan McLellan Park in Owen Sound August 28th to September 4th.

Last night at the Kiwanis Soccer Complex, the Strikers edged the Newmarket Lions 2-1

Reid Hired @ Walkerton

While the Ontario Hockey League Champion Owen Sound Attack continue to have a vacancy in the head coaching department, former Attack Assistant Coach Jeff Reid has been named as the new head coach for the Walkerton Hawks of the Western Junior C Hockey League

Reid, a graduate of Owen Sound Minor Hockey & the Junior B Greys, will take over the Hawks who are the defending Western Junior C League Champions.

As a player, Reid scored more than 100 goals in the OHL with the Royals at Cornwall & Newmarket before embarking on a pro career that last 4 years.

Following pro hockey, Reid coached the University of Guelph Gryphons and spent 3 seasons as an assistant to Mark Reeds with the Attack.

Under 17 Awarded To Windsor

Hockey Canada, in partnership with the Ontario Hockey Federation, announced that Windsor, Ontario will host the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

The event will run from December 29th to January 4th.

Raid The North

The 6 Day Adventure Race, known as " Raid The North " continues in British Columbia.

The event features team trekking, paddling and mountain biking segments for a mixed team of 4.

The Team Wilderness Traverse team, which features Wiarton native Jack van Dorp, held the lead earlier today.

" Raid The North " runs until Sunday.
