A new war memorial is being planned for Alliston.
Veterans Affairs Minister Steven Blaney and other officials will join members of the local Royal Canadian Legion branch on Thursday to announce funding for the project.
The money will come from the Community War Memorial Program, which is helping communities across Canada build tributes.
Veterans Affairs says the legion branch will receive up to 50 thousand dollars to honour area residents who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, peacekeeping missions and in Afghanistan.
The memorial will feature a stone walkway and two planters leading up to the main granite cenotaph level, as well as a landscaped area for flagpoles.
