Milestone for Bruce Power

Tiverton | by Dan McLean

Nuclear Operator has now donated one million dollars to United Way of Bruce Grey.

Quite a milestone for Bruce Power.

The nuclear operator in Tiverton has reached the one million dollar donation mark for the United Way of Bruce Grey.

The money has been donated by the company, its suppliers and its employees since 2003.

United Way Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn says Bruce Power has been a wonderful partner in providing help to local residents.

Dobbyn points out its more than just the money -- Dobbyn says Bruce Power also helps spread their message by providing information to the community.

The United Way of Bruce Grey uses the funds to help over 40 thousand men, women and children receive resources, assistance and care from its member agencies.

Dobbyn notes that equals to 35 per cent of the Grey Bruce population.

Dobbyn notes the demand for help continues to rise and they are grateful to Bruce Power and its employees for their consistent kindness.

Bruce Power has been able to provide this support through monthly employee payroll deductions, a golf tournament and corporate sponsorship.

President and CEO Duncan Hawthorne says he is very proud of the milestone and the level of commitment by their staff.

He feels their support can truly make a difference in people's lives.

Donations to support the many programs and agencies in local communities can be made by contacting the United Way of Bruce Grey.
