Last Train to Collingwood

Collingwood | by Mariane McLeod

Official end of an era when rail line is closed on Thursday.

The last train into Collingwood will arrive Thursday morning.

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will ride the train from Poplar Sideroad to the Canadian Mist plant -- the final client of the Collingwood railway in a final ceremonial run at about 10:30 AM Thursday.

The last train will officially bring to an end the era of train travel for goods and passengers in the town.

The first trains into the area started running in the 1850's.
