OMB Rules on Rentals

Blue Mountains | by Catherine Thompson

OMB shoots down appeal of Blue Mountains bylaw for short term accommodations.

A victory for the Blue Mountains.

The Ontario Municipal Board has ruled that short term accommodations should only be in commercial areas.

A motel owner had appealed the town's by-law so rental units could go in residential neighbourhoods.

But the OMB dismissed the appeal based on concerns there would be increased traffic and noise problems.

The Blue Mountains will now consider how to enforce the regulations including the possibility of licenses.
