The Goderich District Collegiate Institute is holding its Homecoming weekend.
Event Registrar Elaine Fielder tells Bayshore Broadcasting News she's expecting over a thousand people to take in the weekend events from Friday to Sunday.
She says at this point -- they have over 600 registered members with a whole lineup of things to do.
The Male and Female Basketball games kicked off the weekend on Friday.
Fielder notes men's and women's soccer, as well as field hockey will begin at 9:30 AM Saturday -- and they're hoping to get a game of Slo Pitch going at 1 PM at Ag Park.
Fielder asks everyone interested to register for the events and says anyone is welcome to come by.
Alumni bands will also play at the dances this weekend.
As for any concerns - Fielder says she doesn't believe anything will get out of control.
Fielder notes the last homecoming in 2000 turned out to be not just a GDCI only event but that of the whole town of Goderich.
She adds the previous event attracted over five thousand people.
The event wraps up on Sunday morning with a run from the West parking lot, at 8:30 AM.
Events are also planned in the school cafeteria with breakfasts being served Saturday by GDCI hospitality students.
The event isn't just for GDCI Alumni -- Fielder encourages everyone to take part in the weekends events.
Fielder says all money raised goes towards students who can't afford certain programs.
