Keep Pets Cool

Regional | by Mariane McLeod

Police getting calls about people leaving pets in steamy, hot vehicles.

With today's summer-like conditions, Police are getting calls about people leaving their pets in steamy vehicles.

Collingwood and the Blue Mountains OPP say the animal they got a call about turned out to be fine, but it could just as easily been a deadly situation for a dog left unattended.

Police say it only takes a few minutes for a car to become too hot, and a driver could be charged with animal cruelty for leaving a pet behind in a sweltering vehicle.
