Olympic Torch Runs Set

Saugeen Shores | by Daryl Morris

Saugeen Shores hosting two Special Olympic torch runs today.

Special Olympics will be celebrated today in Saugeen Shores.

The Saugeen Shore Police service is hosting a Law Enforcement Torch Run through Southampton and Port Elgin.

Constable Adam Sachs says they are trying to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics.

He says in our area alone there are many athletes that compete in a variety of sports.

Sachs says the local schools are involved, and police officers and members of the public will be running.

He says if you can't run, you can "Adopt a Cop" and collect pledges for one of the officers running.

They will be running from GC Houston school to the big flag in Southampton at 1 PM.

A second torch run will take place at 2 PM in Port Elgin, starting at the bowling alley and ending at Ralph's.
