Second Cow Crash in Southgate

Southgate | by Kevin Bernard

A local farmer is having some luck getting his herd back, but a few remain missing.

An update to that story we told you about -- where 50 head of cattle disappeared from a farm and one had been hit by a truck last weekend.

Grey County OPP say a second crash involving a Black Angus cattle-beast happened early Thursday morning.

The latest incident was about  5 AM in Southgate Township, on Grey Road 9 west of Hopeville.

The hood of the vehicle was damaged, as well as the windshield and sun roof, but the driver was uninjured.

In a strange coincidence the driver of the car, a 21 year-old Southgate man, was on route to northern Ontario where he was going to be de-horning calves.

Meanwhile, Grey County OPP says the recovery of the animals is going better than the farmer expected.

He has now recovered 45 head, leaving fewer than five at large in the area.
