Drugs Found at Jail

Two people face charges after drugs were allegedly smuggled into Penetang jail.

The OPP report two people are facing charges after drugs were allegedly smuggled into a Penetanguishene jail.

Officers say they saw suspicious activity by a woman visiting a male inmate at the Central North Correctional Centre on May 18th.

Police say the inmate and the visitor were searched and small quantities of marijuana were seized.

A 25 year old Rama woman is charged with possession of marijuana and trafficking and is to appear in Midland court on July 14th.

A 25 year man from Penetanguishene is charged with possession of marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say the man remains in jail.
