Brockton is one step closer to building a new Multi Use Municipal Complex Centre.
Council has voted in principle to support such a project and has agreed to make funds available for professional costs and land purchases.
Mayor David Inglis says Council has also decided this will be a project that will be financed over the long term rather than paid for upfront.
Inglis says instead of taking from reserves, Council has decided the residents who will use the new complex will be the same ones that help fund it.
And while Council has pledged its support to the project, there are still a number of variables yet to be addressed.
Project costs, government funding and even the location have yet to be confirmed.
Council hopes this new Municipal Complex will also include a new arena.
There's also hope the facility could house the Recreation Department, the Walkerton Daycare and maybe even the Chamber of Commerce.
Brockton is currently undergoing a Municipal Needs Study, and the results of that study will be released sometime this Spring.
