Bayshore Nominated for Kraft Tour

Owen Sound | by Peter Jackson

The Harry Lumley Community Bayshore has been nominated for this years Kraft celebration tour.

Owen Sound's Bayshore Community Centre has been nominated as a stop for this year's Kraft cross-Canada Celebration Tour.

Kraft will donate 25 thousand dollars to the ten communities that receive the most votes.

TSN will also broadcast an edition of Sportscentre live from the town.

Kraft spokesperson Lindsay Rogers says this is the fifth year for the Kraft Celebration Tour, which was developed to recognize the importance of recreational facilities in Canadian communities.

Kraft and TSN will pick 20 entries once the nomination deadline closes on June 10th, and the top 20 will be announced on Sportscentre July 1st.

After that, two communities will go head-to-head for votes each day, and Rogers says residents can submit an unlimited number of votes for their community.

Until then, you can still log onto and leave supporting comments about why the Bayshore Community Centre deserves to win.

The Mount Forest Community Centre and the Davidson Centre in Kincardine has also been nominated.

Rogers says there is still time for other communities around Grey-Bruce to nominate their community centres.

She says all that's required is a picture and a short essay outlining the community's commitment to active living and why the money would be best spent for their recreation facilities.
