Plenty To Do This Long Weekend

Wasaga Beach | by Catherine Thompson

The main beach in Wasaga is expected to a be a busy place this weekend.

If the weather holds out, the main beach in Wasaga is expected to a be a busy place this weekend.

And there will be more than just bikinis, frisbees and blankets on the beach today.

How about a knight in full armour and his steed.

He'll be at Beach One from Noon to 1 PM to promote next weekend's Great Northern Medieval Fayre at the GNE fairgrounds.

And the grand opening of Bananas bar and restaurant will be at 4 PM.

Wasaga Beach mayor Cal Patterson is expected to be there for the ribbon cutting ceremony.

But the Dard won't be opening this weekend. The family that is now leasing Bananas is working on a deal for the Dard with the receiver, but it isn't worked out just yet.

A reminder, too, that the fence to protect the nesting Piping Plovers is again up at the main beach so dogs are not allowed at that end of the beach, but they are at Beach Three.

Fireworks will go off at the Village at  Blue Mountain tonight at 9:30 PM.

And many tourist attractions will be opening all around our area this weekend.
