Students in Elmvale are taking matters into their own hands.
With the OPP launching a blitz this week to crack down on distracted driving, a couple of students at Elmvale District High School have started a program to discourage driving and texting.
Matt Pleli and Alison Mullings are challenging fellow students to sign a pledge that they will not use their cell phones while behind the wheel.
Students who sign the pledge get to wear a silicone thumb ring in their house colour.
The high school is divided into four friendly competition groups to earn points for attendance and participation in school activities.
