Regional | by Catherine Thompson

No cabinet post for Simcoe Grey's new Conservative M-P.

No cabinet post for Simcoe Grey's new MP.

Doctor Kellie Leitch's name was not announced today when Prime Minister Harper unveiled his new 39 member cabinet.

It's one of the largest in Canadian history.

Some high-profile rookies like Leitch and  former diplomat Chris Alexander did not get the nod, but Harper says his focus is on continuity.

The newcomers include Peter Penashue, the only Conservative from Newfoundland and Labrador.

He's the new intergovernmental affairs minister.

Most veteran ministers are keeping their posts, including Jim Flaherty in finance and Peter MacKay in defence.

Returning Conservative MP's in the region, Larry Miller and Ben Lobb, were also not named to Cabinet.
