Grade 7 and 8 students from across Avon Maitland and the Catholic District School Boards participated in a senior techno challenge recently.

Trustee Michael Bannerman tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the entire day was based on science, engineering and physics.

He tells us students constructed several different things such as vehicles and a course to race them on.

A number of schools participated in the day long challenge.

Bannerman says GDCI, Seaforth, Blyth and a bunch more took part in the techno challenge.

Overall Bannerman says the students did very well.

He says St. Patrick school came first followed by Blyth, Zurich, and GDCI finished who finished in the top four.

Prizes were also given out after the event.

Bannerman says the top four schools received money for their science departments.

He congratulates all the students who participated.

He adds the students did very well - and appreciates the amount of work put in by the teachers.
