OMB Appeals for Schools

North Huron | by Travis Pedwell

One appeal dismissed at OMB, now Avon Maitland board waits for second appeal deal.

Avon Maitland District School Board staff are hoping the new North Huron school will be complete for the 2012 school year.

Superintendent Mike Ash tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the first appeal was dismissed by the Ontario Municipal Board.

Ash says staff are now waiting for a second date to be set for the second appeal.

Ash tells us after the date is set they will move forward on the hearing to have the school built just East of F.E Madill.

He tells us if the school is not complete for the 2012 school year they have a back-up plan.

Ash says students that would go to the new North Huron school will be placed in Wingham and Turnberry Central Public Schools until the new school is ready.

The new school will hold junior kindergarten students to grade six - while grade 7 and 8 students will be relocated to F.E Madill Secondary.
