A team from West Hill Secondary in Owen Sound has won the Envirothon competition at St. George's.
Over the weekend, teens from across Ontario met to take part in one of North America’s largest annual environmental competition.
It tests students’ knowledge about the environment through a variety of challenges, including written tests, field tests and oral presentations.
West Hill Grade 12 student David Beisel says this year they focused on the issues of salt and fresh water estuaries.
The student teams, ranging from Grades Nine to Grade 12, have been preparing for months on this year’s issue: salt and fresh water estuaries.
West Hill won the championship, and will represent Ontario at the Canon Envirothon International Championship at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick from July 24th to the 29th.
The winning team there, will have a chance to win Canon scholarships, prizes and awards worth more than 125 thousand dollars.
