Get Rid of Hazardous Waste

Bruce County | by Manny Paiva

Residents can unload hazardous waste in Lion's Head or Wiarton on Saturday.

Bruce County residents can get rid of their hazardous waste this weekend.

The South Bruce Peninsula works garage and the Northern Bruce Peninsula works yard will be open on Saturday or the Household Hazardous and Special Waste Day.

The works yard is located on Lindsay Road 5 in Lion's Head and will be open from 8 AM to 11 AM on Saturday.

The South Bruce Peninsula works garage is located on Elm Street in Wiarton and will be open on Saturday from 12:30 PM to 3 PM.

You can get rid of materials such as batteries, oven cleaners, pesticides and propane tanks.

Hazardous materials can be spotted by their labels. They will say either corrosive, toxic, reactive or flammable.

Improper disposal into drains, sewers, backyards or landfills endangers public health and contaminates water supplies and other natural resources.
