OHL Priority Selection Takes Place this Saturday
Amidst all of the excitement of the Rogers OHL Championship Series, the Attack will be conducting the annual OHL Priority Selection this Saturday at the Bayshore. The 2011 OHL Priority Selection will begin this Saturday at 9:00am, but the Owen Sound Attack will have to wait some time for the 20th overall pick, their lowest pick in franchise history.
"Although it is nice having the luxury of building your team around high picks, it is definitely refreshing picking where we are this year.", stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. "We feel we get can a promising player with the 20th pick in the first round." The Attack pick 20th overall because of the compensatory pick that Mississauga receives.
The Attack enter the 2011 OHL Priority Selection with seventeen picks in the fifteen round process, all fifteen of their own plus additional picks from Niagara and Saginaw. The draft picks are as follows. First Round (OS), Second Round (OS), Third Round (Niagara), Third Round (OS), Fourth Round (OS), Fifth Round (OS), Sixth Round (SAG), Seventh Round (LON), Eighth Round (OS), Ninth Round (OS), Tenth Round (OS), Eleventh Round (OS), Twelfth Round (OS, Thirteenth Round (OS), Fourteenth Round (SAG), Fourteenth Round (OS), Fifteenth Round (OS).
"Our goal with this franchise is to continue to build through the draft to ensure we are competitive in the years to come. The success we have had this season, without sacrificing a lot of our future draft picks is something to be proud of.”, stated DeGray.
The Attack will once again be holding a draft day party for fans wanting to take in the action. The party will be held in the large shore room in the lower lobby of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Coffee, Muffins and Donuts will be provided for breakfast while East Side Mario’s will be catering the lunch. Proceedings of the draft will be shown on a large video screen in the room and Attack General Manager Dale DeGray will be on hand to speak with fans throughout the process.
