Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has secured a 3-nothing series lead after rallying in the 3rd period to top the Capitals 4-3. Tampa Bay could advance to the conference final with a victory tonight. Also tonight, Philadelphia is at Boston, where the Bruins are up 2-games-to-nothing. And Detroit is home to San Jose, with the Red Wings trailing that series 2-nothing.

Switzerland has become a Canadian nemesis in recent years at the World Hockey Championship, and was on the verge of yet another upset until Canada scored in overtime earning a 4-3 victory in Slovakia yesterday. Canada doesn’t play again until Friday.

Closer to home, Owen Sound lost to Mississauga 5-2 in the opening game of the O-H-L finals. The Majors won for the 13th time in 14 playoff games. Game 2 in the series is Thursday night in Owen Sound.

From the N-B-A conference semi-finals, the Miami Heat used a late 14-point run to defeat the Boston Celtics 102-91, and take a 2-games-to-nothing lead in their N-B-A Eastern Conference semifinal. The Toronto Blue Jays were three outs away from giving Jo-Jo Reyes his first win in three years until B-J Upton smacked a 2-run homer in the ninth giving Tampa Bay a 3-2 win over the Jays. The Jays have lost three in a row and will try again for a win tonight when they send Brandon Morrow to the mound.

The weather Tuesday started out nice but quickly went south during Day 12 of the Georgian Triangle Spring Derby. Mike Yoshimoto caught a 5.88lb rainbow to win big fish of the day. The weather is expected to improve later today for Day 13 of the derby. Tickets are still available.
