Hensall | by Travis Pedwell

Sam Crawford from Hensall Public School is going to National Spelling Bee.

A Grade 6 student from Hensall Public School is heading to the Nationals.

AMDSB Communications Director Steve Howe tells Bayshore Broadcasting News Sam Crawford has won the Junior spelling Bee.

Howe says Crawford will be moving onto Toronto on May 15th after winning the London region in the 14th round.

Howe calls Crawford an amazing young man.

He says this will be his second trip to the nationals.

Howe tells us Crawford made it to the finals in grade two and in Kindergarten.

He adds the amazing thing about Crawford when he was in Kindergarten was that he was in the spelling competition against grade six students.

Howe got to spend some time with the London region champ and says he is a very intelligent young man and a great speller.

Between 400 and 500 students will be participating in the National spelling bee in Toronto.

Howe believes Crawford will do a great job.

He tells us Crawford won many awards from winning the London Region and says there will be more and bigger prizes come May 15th.
