Verdict In Police Officer's Murder

Man accused of killing police officer in Markham has been found guilty of manslaughter.


A man accused of killing a police officer in Markham in 2007 has been found guilty of manslaughter.

But 23 year old Nadeem Jiwa of Scarborough was originally charged with first degree murder, but the jury downgraded that to manslaughter.

Detective Constable Robert Plunkett was investigating airbag thefts when he attempted to arrest Jiwa.

Court heard a stolen car was driven towards Plunkett and he was pinned against a tree.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 21st.
