Knights Off to Robotic Worlds

Kincardine | by John Divinski

The Kincardine Kinetic Knights won their regional competition to advance to Worlds.

It's onto the world championships for the Kincardine Kinetic Knights.

The robotics team from Kincardine District Secondary School will travel to St. Louis, Missouri for the World championships that begin Wednesday.

The Knights won their regional competition for the right to advance to the Worlds.

Co-Captain Janelle Taylor says the team of about 30-students have had 60 days to design and build their robot, with the hopes of getting this far.

She says the robot has been built to strict specifications as supplied by judges in the various competitions.

Taylor says the robot must perform through a pre-programmed set of instructions and then students take the controls in a tic tac toe style game.

The trick is to get as many points as you can in the time allotted.

The students had to fundraise to cover the 25 thousand dollar cost for the trip -- each student paid 100 dollars out of their own pocket.
