Changes to Cyclones Staff

Mike Brooks has resigned as Listowel GM, Wayne Long will take over.

CYCLONES ANNOUNCE STAFF CHANGES

LISTOWEL (April 19, 2011) The Listowel Cyclones Junior Hockey Club would like to announce the resignation of Mike Brooks as the team’s General Manager and Jeff Bloemberg as the team’s Assistant Coach. Dave Williams has been promoted to the position of Director of Hockey Operations/Head Coach. Wayne Long has been appointed as the team’s General Manager and Trevor Fraser will join the Cyclones as an Assistant Coach.

Mike Brooks has resigned his position as General Manager with the Cyclones. Mike was with the club for 5 seasons. Mike began his valued tenure with the club as an Assistant coach for one season before guiding the team as its Head Coach for 3 successful seasons before finishing up as the General Manager for the 2010/11 season. The Cyclones would like to thank Mike for his countless hours of hard work and professionalism during his time as a Cyclone and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Jeff Bloemberg has resigned his position as Assistant Coach with the Cyclones. Jeff returned to the Cyclones in 2009 and served as an Assistant Coach the last 2 seasons. Jeff was an integral member of the 2004-05 team that captured the Cherrey Cup. The organization would like to thank Jeff for all his hard work and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Dave Williams has been promoted to the position of Director of Hockey Operations; Dave will be maintaining the Head Coach responsibilities which he held last season. As Director of Hockey Operations he will be responsible for the administration of all matters pertaining to the day-to-day operations of the club.

Wayne Long has been appointed the teams new General Manager. As a former Cyclone player and current VP of the Executive, Wayne’s major focus will be player recruitment. With Wayne’s personality and skill set, this will benefit the Cyclones this year and for years to come.

Trevor Fraser has been appointed the teams new Assistant Coach. Trevor returns to the Cyclones after spending 3 successful seasons in the OUA/CIS. Since leaving the Cyclones, Trevor served as Assistant Coach with the Wilfird Laurier Men’s Hockey team for the 2008-10 seasons and last year in the same capacity with the Waterloo Warrior Men’s Hockey team. The Cyclones are very excited to have Trevor return for the upcoming season.

Matt Desmueles/Steve Leith will both be returning in the roles they held last season.
