Cape Croker | by Daryl Morris

A Bruce Peninsula OPP officer is in hospital after being injured in ATV crash.

A 40 year old Bentinck township man remains in Toronto hospital in serious but stable condition after an ATV crash in Cape Croker over the weekend.

The Cape Croker Police Service says the crash happened shortly before 5 PM on Friday along Prarie Road on Cape Croker First Nation Reserve.

When officers responded, a man was lying on the road next to an ATV.

Early investigation shows two ATV riders collided, causing serious injuries to one man who was taken by ambulance to the Wiarton Hospital.

He was later airlifted to St. Mike's hospital in Toronto.

Bruce Peninsula OPP confirm the man is one of their officers, who was off-duty at the time.

Cape Croker Police and OPP continue to investigate.
