Attack Ready for Game 3

Owen Sound | by Bayshore News Staff

Owen Sound can take strangehold lead on OHL series with a victory tonight.

The Owen Sound Attack can take a stranglehold lead in their OHL Western Semifinal series with Plymouth by beating the Whalers tonight.

The Attack host Game 3 at 7:05 PM at the Lumley Bayshore.

Owen Sound is coming off a 3-2 victory in Plymouth on Saturday -- the sixth one goal game between the two hockey clubs this season.

Attack Forward Andrew Shaw sparked the comeback by scoring Owen Sound's first goal on Saturday and he is happy with their team's four game playoff winning streak.

But Shaw feels their team can still play better.

Shaw says they have to improve their penalty kill and limit the opportunities for the Whalers number one line.

Attack Captain Garrett Wilson says it would be nice to break open a game -- but he adds wins are what matter most right now.

It is expected that Scott Stajcer will make his second straight start tonight -- he won the first two games of the series after missing 4 months due to an injury and surgery.

Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Attack Attempt to Take a Stranglehold on Western Semi-Finals Tonight!

The Owen Sound Attack returned home in the wee hours on Sunday morning with a 2-0 lead over the Plymouth Whalers in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Saturday’s 3-2 win marked the first time the Attack have held a two game advantage during the playoffs, aside from the clinching game six contest over the Knights. The Attack’s win on Saturday was also the fourth in a row during the post season.

“We’re winning a lot of one goal games right now.”, stated Attack Captain Garrett Wilson. “It would be nice if we could break it open a little more, but wins are wins and they are what matter most right now.”

The Attack has trailed by two goals in the first two games of the series, fighting back from 3-1 and 2-0 deficits to squeak out victories. Veteran netminder Scott Stajcer has made a successful return to the crease, appearing in three games, while recording a 2-0 record to go along with a 1.16 GAA and a .957 save percentage. Geoffrey Schemitsch was named the games first star with a two assist performance and Roman Berdnikov notched the game winner on Saturday in the third period for his second of the playoffs.

It is expected that Stajcer will make his second straight start tonight against the Whalers. Tickets for tonight’s game are available by visiting the Attack Box Office in the front lobby of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Center. Tickets are also available by calling (519) 371-7452. A reminder to ALL fans to wear WHITE to the games. White rally towels are available at the fan services table behind section B.
