No Tax Hike on Peninsula

South Bruce Peninsula | by John Divinski

South Bruce Peninsula will pass budget with 0 per cent tax increase.

South Bruce Peninsula taxpayers -- at least some of them -- are going to enjoy a zero per cent increase in the tax rate.

Mayor John Close says councillors completed their budget discussions on Tuesday.

Mayor Close says your assessment will dictate whether or not taxes go up or not.

However, he reiterates the municipality has come up with a zero per cent increase in the tax rate.

Close says some capital budget projects have been included in the budget although he indicated there was nothing major.

He did say it was a compromise budget as some councillors were after more cuts in the document.

The budget does not include the education or Bruce County levies.
