Regional | by Dan McLean

Tonight between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM, you are asked to conserve electricity.

Earth Hour is upon us once again.

Tonight between 8:30 and 9:30 PM, you are ask to shut off lights and any non essential electrical devices for one hour to aid in the fight against Climate Change.

This year's theme is " One person has the power to make change".

Environmentalists tell us Climate Change is a serious threat to our planet and together we can make a difference.

In Owen Sound, Environmental Superintendent Chris Hughes says they will turn off all non-essential lighting at City facilities.

Hughes encourages residents and business people to do the same.

The city says however, Street lights will be left on for safety reasons.

In Hanover, Mayor Kathi Maskell also encourages everyone to participate by shutting off their lights, TV's and computers in an attempt to conserve energy.

Maskell also feels people need to be thinking about ways to conserve energy on a daily basis.

Maskell notes Earth Hour also provides families with a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time together without the noise of technology.
