Woman Banned From Hospital?

Wasaga Beach | by Mariane McLeod

Wasaga woman says she's banned from Barrie hospital over a raised voice.

An odd situation playing itself out between a woman from Wasaga Beach and the hospital in Barrie, with the woman saying she's been banned from the facility over a raised voice.

Lucy Ferry is a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society.

She tells the Barrie Examiner she was kicked out of the cancer unit at Barrie's hospital last week.

Ferry claims she was excused from the building when she got upset over a mixup in timing when she was slated to pick up a patient who was receiving treatment.

A spokesperson for the hospital says no one has been prohibited from the property.

Spokesperson Suzanne Legue says she can't get into the specifics of the situation, but says any disciplinary action would be up to the Cancer Society.

She also says everyone at the hospital is bound by a code of conduct that calls for everyone to be treated with dignity and respect.

A spokesperson for the Simcoe-Muskoka branch of the Canadian Cancer Society said she could not speak about specific volunteers due to confidentiality.
