The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority's has honoured its best.
20 awards were handed out on Thursday with the Lions Club in Exeter winning conservationist of the year.
President of the Exeter Lions Club Bruce Hodge tells Bayshore Broadcasting News the award means a lot to the association.
He tells us the Lions Club has done a lot in the past little while.
Hodge says they've partnered with the authority to build and maintain South Huron trail, as well as summer fishing derbies, and look after McNaughton Park in Exeter.
As for future projects, the Lions Club would like to add to the South Huron trail.
Hodge says the association will enhance the trail this coming year.
Hodge notes that their goal is to maintain a healthy environment for the children in the region.
Among the 20 awards handed out -- 8 were given to staff, 10 for student's in a writing competition, and Huron East Councillor Bill Siemon received an award for being on the board of directors for three years.
