WOAA Division Finals Begin Tonight

Saugeen Shores, Monkton & Clinton | by John Divinski

Comments From Winterhawks Coach Don Matheson

It's showtime in the Senior AA hockey league.

It's the series everyone's been waiting for between the Saugeen Shores Winterhawks and the Elora Rocks.

It's for the chance to win the championship in the North Division and move on to the league championship against a South Division opponent--either Monkton or Tillsonburg.

Winterhawks coach Don Matheson says it's going to be a knock-down-drag-em-out series which he expects to go 6 or seven games.

He says his team is healthy and they have a motto for this series--"Do the Little Things."

Matheson says they have to execute well and stay out of the penalty box.

He says in Elora's last series with Shelburne, they were average two or three power play goals per game.

He says they can't give them those types of chances.

Matheson is counting on an extra player on the ice tonight (FRI).

He wants the fans to come out and make a ton of noise supporting the Winterhawks as they continue their quest for another championship cup.

Game time tonight at the Plex is 8:30.

The South Final begins at Monkton with the Wildcats hosting Tillsonburg at 8:30

And the WOAA " B " Final resumes tonight at Clinton

The best of 5 between the Radars & the Walkerton Capitals is tied 1-1
