Huron County's Transportation Demand Management plan is well on its way to producing results.
Thanks to funding from the Ministry of Transportation, the County hired MMM Group to consult with the public and develop the plan.
Spokesperson Claire Basinski (BA-SHIN-SKEE) says they talked to people from all walks of life in the County to get an idea of what people are in need of.
She says there was a major focus on the aging community that may have to go out of the County for some services or live in rural parts of Huron and need to get to the more populated areas.
Basinski says meetings with the public were held through the Autumn season and they learned a lot about the needs of families and also about the push for greener alternatives to cars.
She says paving the shoulders of the highways is a good start to make it safer for cyclists to commute within the County.
The public can see the draft plan on March 25th at the Contractors Expo at the Knights of Columbus Centre in Goderich, and comment on their recommendations.
