Starting Fresh

Owen Sound | by Fred Wallace

An Examination of the OHL MidWest

Starting Fresh

This is simple examination of the Ontario Hockey League schedule as it pertains to the teams in the MidWest Division.

The study was designed to discover which of the 5 teams in the MidWest ( Erie, Guelph, Kitchener, London or Owen Sound ) had the best spacing in their regular season schedule

My theory is, the fresher a team is, the better they will play, and the more likely they are to have success.

So the findings below indicte the number of times a MidWest team is " fresh " for their game, that is, having not played the night before allowing them to be " fresh " for a game, be it at home or on the road.

Alphabetically, here are the results;

Erie Otters
Fresh for Home Games = 16 times
Fresh for Road Games = 19 times
Fresh for Games Overall = 35 times

Guelph Storm
Fresh for Home Games = 24 times
Fresh for Road games = 18 times
Fresh for Games Overall = 42 times

Kitchener Rangers
Fresh for Home Games = 30 times
Fresh for Road Games = 16 times
Fresh for Games Overall = 46 times

London Knights
Fresh for Home Games = 20 times
Fresh for Road Games = 17 times
Fresh for Games Overall - 37 times
* London's numbers this year may not be typical as they were out of the Labatt Centre at length while the Brier was being staged

Owen Sound Attack
Fresh for Home Games = 15 times
Fresh for Road Games = 21 times
Fresh for Games Overall = 36 times
