The race to be the Federal Conservative candidate for Simcoe Grey is back down to three.
Steve Wallace is no longer in the running.
Wallace was unavailable for comment because he's on a Rotary Club aid trip to the Dominican Republic, but confirmation comes from a spokesperson from his camp, Roger Gray.
Gray declined use of his recorded comments, but says Wallace had to pull out of the race because he didn't get enough support.
Gray says each candidate needs 25 signatures of people who were party members 21 days before the vote was called.
According to Gray, Wallace was getting support, but many weren't card carrying members for long enough.
Gray says Wallace is understandably disappointed since the support was promised to him when he was deciding to run.
Wallace made the late announcement on February 17th that he was throwing his hat in the ring.
The nomination vote will take place on March 25th at the Rec Plex in Wasaga Beach.
The three candidates for Simcoe Grey are former Collingwood mayor Chris Carrier, orthopaedic surgeon Kellie Leitch and Paul Throop, who has been involved in politics in Ottawa for a number of years.
