Local young musicians will be showing off their talents this month.
Starting today, the Georgian Bay Folk Society will be hosting their Discoveries Showcases, which is part of the Summerfolk festival.
Summerfolk Artistic Director Richard Knechtel says they have chosen a total of 36 acts all under the age of 21.
There will be three preliminary showcases this month, with 12 acts playing at each.
From there, Knechtel says they'll choose three acts from each showcase, plus three wild cards, to play at the end of the month during the Last Chance Saloon.
Knechtel says the young people are great performers, and in the five years they've done this, many have gone on to further their careers in music.
The Last Chance Saloon is at the Bayshore Community Centre on March 26th, and three of the youth acts will be chosen to then take the stage at Summerfolk in August.
The first of the preliminary Discoveries Showcases is today at the Owen Sound Public Library from 2 PM till 4:30 PM.
There will be two other showcases this month, both on Sundays; March 13th at Back Eddie's in Paisley and March 20th at the Meaford Hall.
