Helter Shelter Benefit Concert

Owen Sound | by Daryl Morris

Jake Chegahno has organized a benefit concert with proceeds going to Safe N' Sound.

A local musician is hoping music will help the homeless in Grey-Bruce.

Jake Chegahno has organized a benefit concert at the Grey Granite Club in Owen Sound tonight with the proceeds going to Safe N' Sound.

Chegahno says the idea has been on his mind for months, since finding out that one of his distant family members fell on hard times in the last few years of his life.

Chegahno says it's opened his eyes to the homelessness situation in our area, and he wants to do something to help.

Chegahno says there are many people behind the concert that have helped pull this together.

The line-up includes Chegahno's band, Woe, as well as singer-songwriter Larry Jensen, bluegrass group Grassfyre, and singer Carolyn Bell.

Tickets are available for eight dollars at Randy's Records on 8th Street East, or 10 dollars at the door.

Doors at the Grey Granite open at 7:30 PM.
