Construction on a 150 thousand dollar astronomical observatory at the Outdoor Education Centre near Oliphant has been delayed.
Bluewater Astronomical Society Vice President John Hlynialuk says the weather has played a factor in the delay.
He says construction should resume in the Spring - the observatory was originally expected to be completed in January.
One of the issues construction crews have run into is blocked access roads due to the high volume of snow we've received this winter.
Hlynialuk says in the meantime the concrete foundation has been poured and the moveable roof is being constructed.
He adds once the ground thaws, the steel needed to complete construction will be trucked in and he anticipates it will not be long from that point for the observatory to be completed.
The observatory will feature a large telescope - donated by the University of Guelph.
Hlynialuk says it will be open to the general public - once it is completed.
