Ice Jam Worries

Wasaga Beach | by Mariane McLeod

Serious flooding not expected by Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority.

Warm temperatures and rain overnight an through the day today may bring trouble with water.

The Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority says while the risk for flooding is low, there is a high potential for ice jams in our creeks and streams.

We're expecting above-zero temperatures today, with 15 to 25 mm rain.

The NVCA says the Nottawasaga river is currently covered with fractured ice cover, and rising river levels the next few days will create a high risk for ice jam flooding.

You're being advised to keep your kids and pets away from bodies of water.
